Home

So yeah I’m home, I won’t show you pics yet since I’m still setting up everything and unpacking. I really love it, kinda hot so thank god we bought an AC. I also really love where I’m located right next to Prince Arthur, St-Laurent, Des Pins, St-Denis, a metro, etc etc. It’s amazing :D

Going Home

Well this is it, tomorrow is painting day and Saturday is moving time. With all of that I don’t think I’ll have any time to post before I move so this is my last post in Lasalle and the next one will be on the beautiful Plateau Mont-Royal. The neighborhood is great, the apartment is great and my girlfriend is amazing!

I’ve got plans to lay my Lego Star Wars on nice shelves and my guns on small hooks. It will look badass!

Oh and dragonflies in the bathroom :P (my girlfriend).

I should be getting Internet (and my connection to the modern world) on July 8th so I’ll see you when I’m home :)

Battlefield Bad Company review

Battlefield Bad Company single player review on Xbox 360 by Cassius (me, idiot).

I must admit I am not the best fan of multiplayer games thus the Battlefield series has always been an OK game for me. I am not for spending time within pointless missions killing stupid bots in Desert City One when in order to use standard equipment you must fucking unlock it in a multiplayer match. I have played Battlefield 2 offline simply because I am a die-hard fan of anything military and modern. When I heard of Battlefield Bad Company, it was back in 2006 or 2007 and we were still working on making Army of Two work.

At the time, Bad Company sounded quite nice since it involved one thing that does make me love video games; a story. As the release date approached, I was given a chance to play in the multiplayer closed beta. Reluctant at first I downloaded the beta only to check out the guns. Well fuck me jolly I loved the god damn multiplayer beta! I played it quite alot and began getting good at it. This therefore changed my perspective on multiplayer and Battlefield. When Bad Company came out, I picked up my copy and headed home only to find out that my Xbox Live Gold subscription had run out. Still, I was gifted from the Gods of game with a full blown single player campaign. On with the Gold then!

After playing through the whole single player campaign of Bad Company I was left wanting for more; the game is a little short. It doesn’t feel short, it only feels like you would still go on. Fortunately for those with Gold subs you can go on Online (I will fix this once I receive my PS3 copy). The game is beautifully crafted; very impressive environment, unique characters except Niko Belic’s cousin playing the president of some soviet country as well as the main bad guy being everything but frightening; I mean the idiot was too scared to face me like a man. Anyways, the game is very well constructed however most people tend to compare it immediately with Call of Duty 4. Cod4 was more of a cinematic experience while Bad Company is much more a gameplay experience. It does have a very cool story however that involves Russians, Americans, Generic Arab Terrorists and PMCs with Gold mixed in the lot. I mean when was the last time we fought for a personal gain in a game? Cod4? Hell no. I was fucking happy to stop giving a shit about political crap and pointless wars and just head for GOLD! The missions are tied up nicely however you feel that at some point you would get the option to go in stealthy alas stealth in Bad Company doesn’t work at all; you fire once, enemies spot you from thirty thousand miles and open fire on you with nuclear rubber ducks. Once you get the point of stealth = shit in Bad Company though the game because quite cool: you just run it shooting everything red and blow up walls and people. If there had been blood to this game, I would have loved the gore. :D

Bad Company was made famous because of its destructible environment and obviously the first thing a player will do when playing the game is check out the limits of that destructible environment. Fortunately for us, the limit is far off. You can destroy pretty much everything and the things you can’t won’t make you go: “aw come on!” The one thing that did impress me quite a lot though is Bad Company’s sound engine; I have never heard such magnificent audio in a game. Props to the Audio Engineers because this game feels real just because of the sound. When firing your gun inside and outside you will hear a difference but not only with your gun but with the foley, vox and explosions. There is no environment sound with random bombs popping up in the background; each explosion does happen in the game! Most weapons will sound different, usually based on calibre and the brass falling on the ground will sound different as well. Visually, the guns are quite well done and the variety is very, very good. For a gun whore like me, I couldn’t be happier to explore the map to find unlockable guns! It is good to note that I usually do not give a flying fuck about collectables but in this case; they’re guns!

Overall Battlefield Bad Company is a good game, there is a lack of blood, the bad guy sucks, the AI is the best shooter in the world and it’s a little short but for a guy like me, Bad Company sits amongst my best games. I rarely complete a game because they usually bore me or are too stupid yet I’ve completed Bad Company quite quickly and know I will go back to it. If you’ve enjoyed Cod4 and want something more gameplay oriented, Bad Company is the right game for you. If you’re a gun whore; Bad Company for ya.
